C.C. Umwelt completes realignment of core business

05 April 2019

C.C. Umwelt, a portfolio company of Novum Capital and one of Germany’s leading disposal and recycling specialists for incineration waste, is selling the scrap trading activities of its subsidiary, Container Company, Krefeld. In recent times, C.C. had been operating this business only at its headquarters at the Rhine harbour in Krefeld. The new owner is family-run company Innovative Metal Recycling (IMR). This latest sale comes after C.C. had already sold its scrap trading subsidiaries, C.C. Schrott + Metall Klapp in Hagen and O & W Rohstoffhandel in Düren.

With the sale of its Krefeld scrap trading activities, C.C. Umwelt will complete the realignment of its profitable core business, which consists of the disposal, reprocessing, and recycling of waste incineration slags, the disposal of flue gas cleaning mass (filter dust) from waste incineration plants, and the processing and disposal of special mineral waste.

Sale includes 37 500 square metres of land

IMR was founded in 2008 and is also based at the Krefeld harbour. The company generates annual revenues of approximately 160 million euros through the purchase and sale of scrap. IMR shreds and sorts metals such as iron, bronze, red brass, aluminium, and brass. With the acquisition of C.C.’s scrap trading activities and 37 500 square metre site, the company will be expanding its premises at the Rhine harbour in Krefeld considerably.
