Novum Capital acquires stake in largest German dermatology clinic, PsoriSol

07 September 2018

Novum Capital and Danish family office, Maigaard & Molbech, have jointly acquired dermatology clinic PsoriSol in Hersbruck near Nuremberg. This acquisition will make it possible to realise a succession plan for the previous sole owner and managing director, Alois Greil.

Authorised to establish medical-care centres

With 150 beds and more than 4 000 inpatients per year, the PsoriSol dermatology clinic is the largest acute-care, inpatient dermatology clinic in Germany, and one of the top-performing dermatology clinics in Europe. Treatments focus on inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis, neurodermatitis, and tumours. The clinic was included in the official hospital plan of the Free State of Bavaria in 2008. In accordance with Section 108 of Book V of the German Code of Social Law (Sozialgesetzbuch), PsoriSol is thereby authorised to set up ambulatory healthcare centres (Medizinische Versorgungszentren) – allowing it to invest in the outpatient health sector.

As an investor in Danish dental clinic chain tandlægen.dk, co-investor Maigaard & Molbech brings, among other things, operational experience in the healthcare industry to the table. Tandlægen.dk was founded in 2015 by dentist Niels Madsen and operates 60 dental practices in Denmark, with a total of 225 doctors and around 600 other employees.
