Novum Capital brings Gerd Graf Bassewitz on board

Frankfurt-based private equity firm Novum Capital Management GmbH & Co. KG has strengthened its team with Gerd Bassewitz as a partner, effective July 1. The 52-year-old economics graduate has more than 25 years of experience in the investment business and in advising family businesses and financial investors in particular on corporate finance transactions. His previous sector focus was on the manufacturing industry, consumer goods, retail (in particular system gastronomy and e-commerce) and real estate.
New access to the German Mittelstand
With his sector know-how and extensive personal network, Gerd Bassewitz will provide the Novum Capital team with further access to the German Mittelstand. In addition, he will intensify and expand contacts with relevant intermediaries such as investment banks, M&A advisors as well as law firms in order to identify investment opportunities for the second Novum Capital fund. Novum Capital Fund II has over EUR 150 million in equity.
High transaction expertise and affinity for succession solutions
Before joining Novum Capital, Gerd Bassewitz was Managing Director of a private equity fund in Frankfurt specializing in medium-sized succession solutions. Prior to that, he advised entrepreneurs and companies on complex M&A and capital market transactions - among others at Bassewitz & Hochberg, Lehman Brothers, Deutsche Bank and Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. Gerd Bassewitz studied at the universities of Würzburg, Swansea (UK) and Berlin and graduated from the Free University of Berlin with a degree in economics.
