Acquisition of ES-Plastic Group

Novum Capital successfully acquired the German manufacturer of specialized food packaging products and paves the way for operational expansion.

Frankfurt, September 2012 – The ES-Plastic Group has been acquired by German Novum Capital from Swiss Plasticos Packaging Group. Financing was provided by London-based RiverRock European Capital Partners, Commerzbank, GE Capital and Sparkasse Passau.

ES-Plastic was founded near Passau/Bavaria in 1966 and is specialized in the production of polypropylene trays for fresh products such as meat, fish, fruit and vegetables. Further products include cups, foils and customized items for food packaging. ES-Plastic currently employs c. 300 people and generated total revenues of € 50 million in 2011. It has the largest production capacities within its peer group in the European market.

Novum Capital is an independent and owner-operated investment firm with offices in London and Frankfurt, specialized in capital raising for corporate clients, financial recovery services for institutional investors and deal by deal acquisitions in complex situations. Novum was advising mezzanine lenders in the financial restructurings of auto suppliers Neumayer-Tekfor and Stabilus and packaging group Oystar. Novum Capital was founded in 2006 by Felix Hölzer as a joint-venture with US Fund Fortress Investment Group and focus on special situations in German speaking countries. Novum is managed by Beatrice Dreyfus, Felix Hölzer and Dr. Udo von Klot-Heydenfeldt.

The operational management of ES-Plastic GmbH will be executed by the current managing director Werner Holl and his team, who were running the company highly successfully in the past.
